Get the numbers right

Many of the problems encountered in credit card transactions are not always due to attempted fraud. In many cases, mistakes can be avoided by timely identification and interception of faulty entries from customers.

This is what Pago Card Check does: the credit card number and card verification code are checked in real-time.

Pago Card Check includes two checking methods:

Luhn Formula
Checking the CVC2/CVV

Luhn Formula

The Luhn Formula Check is mostly used for credit card transactions. The Luhn Formula Check verifies whether the entered credit card number falls within the guidelines and algorithms of the issuing card system.

The first digit of the credit card number defines the type of card (e.g. MasterCard, Visa, American Express etc). In addition to this, in the case of MasterCard and Visa, the issuing bank can be identified from the card number.

Card numbers are generated using the credit card organizations’ specific non-public coding formulas. The Luhn formula check digit routine is a calculation performed on the card number which results in a Luhn check digit. The Luhn check digit is used to verify the theoretical integrity of the credit card number.

Your benefits:

Typing errors are identified immediately
Digit combinations which do not correspond to an existing card type can be reliably filtered out.

CVC2/CVV2 Check

Pago submits the three-digit verification code on to the card issuer for authorization of the transaction. Further processing of the transaction depends on the response code received from the issuer. Transactions not accompanied by a verification code are not submitted for authorization.

Your benefits:

Verified identification: The submission of the three-digit verification code is considered to be proof that the card is being used by the legitimate cardholder.
Increased security: transactions without card verification codes are not submitted for authorization; transactions are not processed if only card number and validity are submitted.
Better chargeback objection rights: The cardholder and card issuer are denied certain chargeback rights depending on the transaction response code given in the authorization process.
